My crocheted prayer shawls have gone to soldiers in Afghanistan, victims of violence, cancer, loss, and heartache. Others are a celebration for birth, rebirth, renewed relationships and more. I get to hear their stories and lift them up in prayer. Some come to pick up a shawl for someone else, but then take one for themselves. "I can't believe I am telling you this," I hear again and again, as tears soften their heart so God's love can enter in. It is an awe-inspired humble experience. My shawls are always given paid in full. They are not free any more than our salvation is free. I do, however, permit a pay-it-forward offering. With each shawl, I also give a pamphlet about what a prayer shawl is, and isn't, along with some tips for how to pray with them. I will gladly share this ministry with anyone interested. Just send me an email so you, too, can be blessed.

My grandmother called them volunteers. Flowers that plant themselves. This volunteer sunflower suffered sever damage during a hail storm. Then it was trampled during a chipmunk chase. Yet, it persevered to bloom and provide seeds for future generations of volunteers. My devotions began as a ministry to our Children's Ministry mid-week program volunteers. Using the children's verse of the week, I drafted a adult-level devotion and lead a prayer session for our volunteers during the evening. I was honored to do this for neighboring churches, too. These volunteer's dedication, passion, and perseverance continues to inspire me as they provide for future generations of Christ followers. There is a special place in my heart for volunteers.

Our latest rescue, Dixie, is in the process of being trained as a therapy dog for visits in Nursing Homes. We may start a Read with Dixie program for elementary schools. Dixie is a Galatians 5:22-23 pup (she has some work to do on her self-control around other dogs). Her love factor is a bit too enthusiastic. Her dazzling blue eyes produce mixed reactions. People are either drawn to them or want to flee. Watch for updates. She 'wrote' Akeem's (untold) Christmas Story in my Blog. And, since I was busy working on my book, she also 'wrote' our Christmas letter for 2021. I might post that is a future Blog, too.
She is a sweetheart and has already joined her predecessors in teaching me how to better love the Lord, my God. See my Blog for her lesson on Focus. Watch for more of her story.
